At Interaction11 Richard Buchanan gave us a gentle rap on the knuckles, saying "this audience doesn't know much about the history and theory of design do you?"
IxDA Toronto wants to remedy this, so we're doing a primer on Industrial Design, presented by Ian Hooper of Autodesk.
Come and join us on Monday, May 16th from 7-9.
We're changing our venue this time to the offices of Normative Design, 376 Bathurst St. (second floor) just north of Dundas St. West.
Please note that we have only 30 spaces available for this event. If you sign up and cannot make it please please please please let us know in advance by contacting toronto-local@ixda.org so we can give your chair to someone else.
Seriously. No kidding.
About Ian:
Ian Hooper began to explore the creation of user experiences at Bishop’s University in the early ‘90s where his thesis piece was an immersive environment installation piece that won him the top prize for studio excellence. At the University of Calgary he explored the confluence of the digital and physical while earning a Master’s degree in Industrial Design with a focus on ergonomics. Professionally he has designed everything from socially oriented cybercafé furniture to interactive television controllers for the elderly. Now at Autodesk Ian works as an interaction designer on innovative 3D graphics software.
We're just happy he kept his textbooks.
Everyone is welcome. IxDA Toronto, the Toronto chapter of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA), is simply a group of Torontonians passionate about interaction design and UX. We have no formal 'membership', so come hang out with us!
Thanks to Normative Design for the venue assist.
