JS Bach B Minor Mass
Completed in 1749, the year before his death JS Bach’s phenomenal B Minor Mass is the culmination of this great composer’s creative life and is the very pinnacle of baroque music. In effect Bach assembles all the very best of his choral music into a most wonderful and ravishingly beautiful whole. The work is remarkable in being a musical setting of the full Catholic Mass by a Lutheran composer.
Although not performed in its entirety until the 19th century, it now receives frequent performances throughout the world and is widely regarded as the supreme achievement of classical music. Hearing this great work for the first time is a life changing experience and there are moments, which literally make the hair stand up on the back of one’s neck!
