Geoffrey Bush Christmas Cantata

We are excited to be giving our first performance of two outstanding Christmas works. Saint Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio was composed when he was just 23 yet shows all the flair, jest and exhilaration of this most prolific of romantic composers. Geoffrey Bush’s music is always tuneful, thoughtful and accessible and his Christmas Cantata is a very beautiful arrangement of some well known and some lesser known carols. His music has fallen out of fashion since the 1960s and we are particularly pleased to be performing it in Derby.
