MADison Avenue Party: Cocktails!, Cartoons and Tunes!

Event: Thursday, September 6th, 2012 from 7-9pm
Tickets sold on a sliding scale from $5 - $500 (Free for Cartoon Art Museum members)

The Cartoon Art Museum is celebrating and saying farewell to one of our most popular exhibitions, What, Me Worry?: 60 Years of MAD Magazine, closing September 16, 2012.

Throw on that snappy, Dapper Don, vintage early 60’s attire and join us for live music by Fleeting Trance, celebrity bartenders serving up MADhattans and pose for local comic artists sketching attendees in the 60’s style of vintage print ads. MADhattans served up courtesy of Campari USA and Palm Bay Imports. Also- those MAD hatters, San Francisco's own Goorin Brothers Hats will be  on hand with a customized 'pop-up' shop. Complete your look with something from these bold hat makers. A portion of the sales will benefit the museum.

About the exhibition:

What, Me Worry? 60 Years of MAD celebrates the rich history of MAD from the original comic book through the black-and-white magazine to its latest incarnation as a full-color bi-monthly publication supplemented by online content.  This is the museum’s first exhibition to include both the MAD comic book and magazine.

This exhibition has been featured in the San Francisco Examiner http://www.sfexaminer.com/entertainment/events/2012/07/60-hilarious-years-mad-mag, J-Weekly: http://www.jweekly.com/article/full/65434/sixty-years-of-mad-ness-retrospective-in-s.f.-affirms-magazine-was-fueled-b/, and MAD itself, among other fine publications.
