Responsive Design is all the rage. In a very short time (even in Internet time), the coding technique described by Ethan Marcotte has become the one web to rule them all. Many web developers are recognizing the benefits of not having to have multiple code-bases to support multiple devices. Companies and organizations love the idea because it sounds faster and cheaper. Besides 'responsive' just kind of rolls off the tongue.
But what does it mean to design for responsive technologies? How can UX designers tackle a project of considering the same content for multiple platforms? How do you define your screen sizes? How do you document responsiveness? What are your deliverables?
IxDA Toronto is providing an opportunity for members of the UX, Design (and Development) communities for an open discussion of designing responsive websites. If you've worked on a responsive design, we'd love for you to share your experience. If you're interested in hearing what others have been working on, come on out! If you're a coder who has built responsive websites, we'd love your insights too.
We're hoping to keep it informal, but if you plan to present your work or techniques, please grab a presenter ticket.
Thanks to Mozilla Toronto for hosting the event in their gorgeous office!
