A NeXTSTEP Retrospective
2012 Cartoon Art Museum Fundraiser
Monday, June 11, 2012
The Cartoon Art Museum, the only museum in the western United States dedicated to all forms of cartoons and comics, is delighted to host its first annual 'Developer Topics' fundraiser at the museum on Monday, June 11, 2012. The theme for this special evening event is NeXTSTEP to Cocoa/UIKit Programming: We Were There Then and coincides with the Apple Developers Conference at the Moscone Center. Hosted by longtime Pixarian and CAM board member, Dr. Michael Johnson, this lively discussion will include speakers such as Keith Ohlfs, the original graphic designer of NeXTSTEP, Jeff Yaksick, another graphic designer at NeXT who succeeded Keith and made significant contributions to the look and feel of NeXTSTEP, Guido Quaroni (now VP of Tools at Pixar) developer of solidThinking, Andy Stone, the ur-NeXTSTEP developer, Wil Shipley (co-founder of Omni and Delicious Monster founder), along with several other folks too shy to let us give out their names.
We'll have demos, slideshows, chats with old skool NeXTSTEP developers, and a special musical guest :-)
We'll also have food and drink, and the Cartoon Art Museum - with its current exhibitions, including the art of the Avengers, Mad Magazine, and Darth Vader and son.
There are two ways to experience this special fundraising event:
Supporter (7 pm — 9:30 pm)
Tickets are $150 per person. Doors open at 7:00 pm.
Sponsor (6 pm — 9:30 pm)
In addition to all of the benefits of the Supporter level, a corporate sponsor receives several VIP tickets which gives early access to the museum, the speakers, and historical NeXTSTEP hardware and paraphernalia.
A Corporate Sponsorship is $500 and includes 2 VIP tickets. Availability for this level is limited. Doors open at 6:00 pm. For those that want more, we have two additional levels.
Note: all tickets are partially tax deductible, and available for corporate matching grants. Please inquire about how you can almost double the amount the cost of your ticket in support of the museum. See http://cartoonart.org/join-support/ for more information.
